They formed following the collapse of a noisier post-punk band and a hitch-hiking journey up the west coast. Gardens and Villa marry all of their inspirations to craft a sound that has captured the attention of fans and critics alike. The band consists of members Chris Lynch (guitar, flute, vocals), Adam Rasmussen (synthesizer), Shane McKillop (bass guitar), Levi Hayden (drums) and Dustin Ineman (keyboards).

The boys formed Gardens & Villa (named after the location of their house on Villa Road) after the demise of an earlier post-punk band.
